Class Descriptions and Schedule

At Sutra our practices follow the general descriptions below.  Of course each practice will be as unique as the person leading them.

If you have never practiced Yoga before, we recommend a beginners practice and explore for there. Also, we have beginner’s workshops listed on our events tab.

All scheduled classes are $7 for a drop in.  We also offer a $50 rate for unlimited scheduled classes.

beginners – a series of classes for those new to the practice touching on various aspects and styles of yoga and meditation.

meditation and breathwork – meditation includes not only sitting silently, but powerful techniques centered around breath and visualization. This class is a wide variety of practices to induce spiritual experience and life transformation.

vinyasa – one of the most popular forms of yoga today, vinyasa is a series of poses connected by the breath. No two classes are ever alike. In bringing consciousness to each movement we create a meditative mind.

power vinyasa – a vinyasa class with slightly more intensity and more advanced peak poses. “Intermediate” is more about staying mindful during the challenge than any perceived physical accomplishment.

yin – a slower paced style of yoga with postures that are held for longer periods of time. Yin aims to cultivate inner awareness while promoting physical flexibility and ease of movement.

restorative – a form of yoga that seeks to achieve physical, mental and emotional relaxation with the aid of props. Restorative yoga calms the mind and nervous system.

yin/yang – an eclectic mix of the more meditative yin practices and the mindful movements of vinyasa.

open sit – a minimally directed meditation for those wishing to experience longer silent seated practice in a group. Come experience the diverse benefits of meditation with supportive practitioners of varying experience.
